The KitchenAid 2024 Color of the Year is finally here—it's magical.

20 years ago, a guy gifted me a KitchenAid stand mixer that I had been eyeing but couldn't afford. (Reader, I married her!) Three children, many homemade birthday cakes, and thousands of cookies later, the same stand mixer still sits on our kitchen counter. It's a workhorse that has stood the test of time, but lately, the click-clack of the bouncing head makes me think it's going to fly right off the counter every time I use it. It's time for a new stand mixer.

Fortunately, today KitchenAid announced its 2024 color of the year: Blue salt. It's a new stand mixer color that the company describes in its press release as “a subtle shimmery, reddish pearl with a subtle blue tint” that depends on how bright or dim the lighting is in your kitchen. It's dim.

This color reminds me of a milder version of nature's blue hour – the time of day just after sunset when the sky is enveloped in a bluish-violet haze with the sharp rays of the setting sun. It's adorable! It creates a cool yet warm, and a familiar yet surprising sound at the same time. This subdued yet attractive color will fit into any kitchen, including mine. (Hint! Hint! Husband!)

KitchenAid introduced its first stand mixer colors in 1955, including colors like petal pink, island green, and sunny yellow. More recently, human trendsetters have been researching and choosing a new color of the year for its stand mixer. Blue Salt is the sixth iteration of the program.

You can find the new color on KitchenAid's popular 5-Quart Artisan Series Tilt-Head model. This is the model that Simply Recipes recommends as the best overall stand mixer for its versatility and ease of use. So not only will your new stand mixer look great on your kitchen counter, but it will also be worth your investment.
